Why serve?
One of the best ways to connect with people at River Ridge is to join a serving team. Whether you like greeting people, holding babies or using your creative gifts, there are a variety of places in which you can serve.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of what makes River Ridge a great place to belong. If people didn’t volunteer, the ministry of this church would “grind to a halt”. Because of the hundreds of volunteer hours that people put in each week, the staff and ministry leaders can focus on meeting the needs of the church and the community.
In 1 Corinthians 12:27, the Apostle Paul writes “Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you is a part of it.” It is God’s desire that all who are in the body of Christ serve to aid the working of the body.
Where to start?
At River Ridge Church, we have “baseline ministries”. This is a great place for someone to start serving. These ministries require a commitment of 1 to 3 hours per month.
- Front Door Team: The front door team consists of three different areas including greeters, parkers and refreshments. The greeters work as a team to greet people as they come to River Ridge, open doors, hand out bulletins and help visitors find their way around the building. The parkers assist people in finding a parking space. The refreshment crew handle coffee preparation and donut maintenance.
Commitment: 1 hour; 1 week a month - Neat Freaks: The Neat Freaks are responsible for the upkeep and regular cleaning of the building. These clean team volunteers aren’t seen, but the effects of their efforts sure are noticeable.
Commitment: 1-2 hours; 1 week a month - Nursery: The nursery workers are responsible for taking care of our littlest ones from birth to age 3. Nursery workers all serve the parents by allowing moms and dads to enjoy the service without being distracted.
Commitment: 1½ hours; 1 week a month
